Mexican long-haul truckers permitted for U.S. freight

Embassy of Mexico (Washington, D.C.)

On October 14, 2011, Transportes Olympic, a Monterrey N.L.-based trucking business, became the first Mexican company to receive Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) authority to operate beyond U.S. commercial border zones under a new cross-border trucking program. The FMCSA permit was issued following Transportes Olympic's successful completion of the U.S. agency's pre-authorization safety audit.

The new program established between Mexico and the United States is reciprocal and mutually beneficial. Three U.S. trucking companies - Plastic Express (CA), A&R Transport Inc. (IL), and Stage Coach Cartage & Distribution LP (TX) - have already been granted permits to haul international cargo in Mexican territory...

Gold, if it's backed by anything at all...

"Compared with something like the U.S. dollar..."

...Simple. The modern financial system is a complete joke. Money is conjured from thin air, backed by false promises from bankrupt governments. Then there’s the fractional reserve swindle, centrally planned interest rates, government-produced inflation, manufactured statistics, insane credit and sovereign debt bubbles, etc.

It’s a total fraud… and like any good con, it depends on just that: confidence.

So what to do…?

If you live in a broke western nation, whatever you do, don’t store your gold in a bank safety deposit box. Bankers are unpaid government spies, so you might as well hang a sign up that says “please seize my assets”.

3. What do American history and the Constitution identify as the "dollar"?

Reference to history clears away the confusion of present-day politics, by showing beyond cavil that the "dollar" is a specific coin, containing 371.25 grains (troy) of fine silver, and nothing else.

a. The "dollar" in the Constitution. Both Article 1, Section 9, Clause 1 of and the Seventh Amendment to the Constitution refer explicitly to the "dollar" - in the one case, permitting "a Tax or duty * * * not exceeding ten dollars for each Person" the States saw fit "to admit" prior to 1808; and, in the other, guaranteeing trial by jury "[i]n suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars.” The Constitution does not define this "dollar.” But, in the late 1700s, no explicit definition was necessary: Everyone conversant with political and economic affairs knew that the word imported the silver Spanish milled dollar.

Indeed, had not such an understanding been catholic, powerful contending forces might never have agreed to support the Constitution at all. For example, the traditional interpretation of Article 1, Section 9, Clause 1 is that it elliptically refers to the slave-trade, and represents a compromise between pro- and anti-slavery forces that was vital to ratification of the Constitution. Self-evidently, those in the pro-slavery faction would never have accepted the "Tax or duty" phrase unless they already knew that the "dollar" identified as the measure of the "Tax" had a fixed value, and what its value was. Otherwise, by monetary manipulation aimed at increasing the purchasing-power of the "dollar,” anti-slavery forces in Congress might have eliminated the slave-trade altogether.

Similarly, the proponents of the fundamental right to jury-trial in the Seventh Amendment would never have accepted the "dollar"-limitation on jury- trials unless they already knew that the "dollar" had a fixed value, and what its value was. Otherwise, monetary manipulation might have eliminated common-law juries altogether. Yet both these groups also were aware of the doctrine that, if Congress had discretion to change the value of the unit of money, there could be no legal limits to the changes it might make. Therefore, their support of these provisions inferentially establishes what a literal reading of them straightforwardly suggests: to wit, that the noun "dollar" refers, not to a mere name applicable to whatever Congress whimsically might decide thereafter to call a "dollar,” but instead to a particular coin so familiar in American experience as to be beyond political transmogrification.

GAO audit shows $16 trillion in secret Fed loans

Foreign banks bailed out in secret deals

Washington – A first-ever audit ordered by an amendment to the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act shows the Federal Reserve made $16 trillion in loans to foreign central banks during the period 2007-2010.

"No agency of the United States government should be allowed to bail out a foreign bank or corporation without the direct approval of Congress and the president," said Senator Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., author of the amendment.

The GAO audit shows that “On numerous occasions in 2008 and 2009, the Federal Reserve Board invoked emergency authority under the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 to authorize new broad-based programs and financial assistance to individual institutions to stabilize financial markets. Loans outstanding for the emergency programs peaked at more than $1 trillion in late 2008. The Federal Reserve Board directed the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY) to implement most of these emergency actions...”

"In 2009 and 2010, FRBNY also executed large-scale purchases of agency mortgage-backed securities to support the housing market," the auditors stated in the report.

At that time, U.S. Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner was chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Having found numerous conflicts of interest, the GAO auditors recommended that "Going forward, to further strengthen policies for selecting vendors, ensuring the transparency and consistency of decision making involving the implementation of any future emergency programs, and managing risks related to these programs, the Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board should direct Federal Reserve Board and Reserve Bank staff, as part of the Federal Reserve System's planned review of the Reserve Banks' codes of conduct given their expanded statutory authority under the Dodd-Frank Act, to consider how Reserve Banks' experience managing employee conflicts of interest, including those related to certain nonbank institutions that participated in the emergency programs, could inform the need for changes to the Reserve Banks' conflict policies."

According to a statement released by Sen. Sanders' office, “Among the investigation's key findings is that the Fed unilaterally provided trillions of dollars in financial assistance to foreign banks and corporations from South Korea to Scotland...

"As a result of this audit, we now know that the Federal Reserve provided more than $16 trillion in total financial assistance to some of the largest financial institutions and corporations in the United States and throughout the world," said Sen. Sanders. "This is a clear case of socialism for the rich and rugged, you're-on-your-own individualism for everyone else."

Music to raise a little dust – Ron Paul v. Herman Cain

GOP contenders' knives out for 9, 9, & 9 man

It happened last week in the GOP presidential debate. Predictably, Ron Paul skewered Herman Cain over his role as a former Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank board member.

Audits Mr. Paul has been calling for over the years show that the Fed secretly bailed out foreign governments, big banks and certain manufacturers while monetizing America's war debt through "quantitative easing."

Fuzzy math is part of the picture, too. Economists have come forward to say that taxing corporate profits at 9%, personal income at 9% and imposing a national sales tax on everything that's for sale would actually cause a family of 4 with an annual income of $50,000 to pay $5,000 more in federal taxes.

“Mr. Cain, in the past you have been rather critical of any of us who would want to audit the Fed. You have said — you’ve used pretty strong terms, that we were ignorant and that we didn’t know what we are doing, and therefore, there was no need for an audit anyway, because if you had one, you’re not going to find out anything, because everybody knows everything about the Fed,” Paul said.

“But now that we have found and we have gotten an audit, we have found out an awful lot on how special businesses get bailed out — Wall Street, the banks, and special companies, foreign governments. And you said that you advise those of us who were concerned, and you belittled — you say call up the Federal Reserve and just ask them. … Do you still stick by this, that that this is frivolous, or do you think it’s very important? Sixty-four percent of the American people want a full audit of the Fed on a regular basis.”

Here is what Herman Cain had to say about the situation:

All U.S. Troops will leave Iraq by December 31

The Associated Press reports that the Obama administration has made a decision to withdraw all but about 160 U.S. Troops attached to the embassy by year's end.

The revelation ends speculation that the Defense Department will leave a force of troops behind in spite of a deadline negotiated in 2008.

According to published reports, “A Pentagon spokesman said Saturday that no final decision has been reached about the U.S. training relationship with the Iraqi government.”

Occupy Wall Street–inspired demonstrations popped up around the world - 951 of them in 82 countries, according to United for Global Change

“October 15th the world will be under our influence. It will become whatever we want.”

The date coincides with a G20 summit of finance ministers in Paris.

In Rome, cameras captured images of rioters throwing Molotov cocktails, lighting cars afire, and targeting buildings belonging to the country's interior and defense ministries.

Signalmen with very large red flags appeared at choke points in the city's streets and summoned attackers to where the next phase of violence was intended to begin.

Gov. Perry's staff tampered with environmental findings

Scientists take their names off doctored report

A dispute over scientific principles has caused a major rift in the political posture of Texas Governor Rick Perry.

Scientists took their names off a report on Galveston Bay after officials of the state's environmental commission struck all references to climate change and a rise in sea level from the document.

Mindful of evidence of global temperature change and its relation to hurricanes, and well aware of the rampant wildfires in Texas over the length of a record drought and heat wave, a co-author of the report delivered a stinging rebuke to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

"None of us can be party to scientific censorship so we would all have our names removed," said Jim Lester, a co-author of the report and vice-president of the Houston Advanced Research Centre.

Every single scientist associated with the findings of the report joined him by requesting their names to be stricken from the record because of the dispute over censorship.

John Anderson, the author of the chapter from which all mention of global warming and sea levels rising were removed, said, “I like to tell people we live in a state of denial in the state of Texas." He is an oceanographer at Rice University.

He added, "The current chair of the commission, Bryan Shaw, commonly talks about how human-induced climate change is a hoax,"

The scientists had originally thought they could avoid a dispute with the commission chairman and the governor's staff by simply including only references to the matter from peer-reviewed scientific publications.

When state officials made numerous unauthorized changes to the 200-plus page report, he said, they went too far.

"They just simply went through and summarily struck out any reference to climate change, any reference to sea level rise, any reference to human influence – it was edited or eliminated," said Mr. Anderson. "That's not scientific review, that's just straight forward censorship."

"It is basically saying that the state of Texas doesn't accept science results published in Science magazine...That's going pretty far." Officials even deleted a reference to the sea level at Galveston Bay rising five times faster than the long-term average – 3mm a year compared to .5mm a year – which Mr. Anderson noted was a scientific fact.

A spokeswoman for the environmental quality commission disagreed.

"It would be irresponsible to take whatever is sent to us and publish it," Andrea Morrow said in an emailed statement. "Information was included in a report that we disagree with."
