Waco TEA Party Back To The Barricades At Chet's Office

In a photo-shopped illustration, the Congressman stands
smiling on the old Brazos River Bridge downtown between east
and west Waco. A trail of fire follows his path and
consumes the gray, conservative trousers of his business
suit.
"Liar, liar, pants on fire," reads the caption on the
announcement.
Terming U.S. Representative Chet Edwards "part of the elite,
corrupt system," Waco TEA Partiers will rally in protest at
his office in the 600 block of Austin Avenue at noon today.
According to the announcement on their website, the
Representative has "taken advantage of the public trust" by
voting for the "Slaughter Solution" to passing a Senate
version of the Obama Care health reform package this weekend
- without really having to vote on it.
The title of the bill: "Providing for consideration of
motions to suspend the rules."
Presumably, these are the same rules used in a knife fight.
On Tuesday, they arrived at noon for a "honk-in," delivering
a "thank you" card for his vow to vote nay on the measure.
But since House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco
devised the tactic of using the Slaughter rule to just
approve the amendments to the measure and thereby render the
Senate version of the bill "deemed accepted," they have
reversed their stand on gratitude for Edwards' promise to
cast a negative vote on the issue.
A dozen cars circled the block for an hour, their drivers
honking their horns madly in praise and approval of the
Congressman's vow.
But all that has suddenly changed.
"The gloves are off...He deserves no thanks," the
announcement says, because the Congressman is "not to be
trusted."
The TEA Party alleges that Mr. Edwards, "along with a
partisan contingent," have voted to use the tricky maneuver
to allow the ten year, trillion-dollar plan to pass.
The same procedure has often been used by Republican
majorities to come to terms on smaller administrative
matters, but never on such a massive spending package.
They will arrive at noon to take back their offer of thanks.
