Hispanics, Anglos Speak At Six-Shooter May Day Rally

They raise their voices for an end to border jumping

The people spoke loud and clear.

There were not many of them and their voices were quiet and
reasonable, but what they said is clear enough for anyone to
understand.

There is a war afoot in the land and it's not a foreign war.
It's happening here and now along the southern border of the
U.S., in the employment and welfare lines, the waiting rooms
of hospitals and clinics and on the highways and streets of
America.

It's a war not against illegal immigration, but one of
economic oppression by illegal aliens who are allowed to do
as they please in the land of the free, the home of the
brave - with impunity and without fear of any corrective
action on the part of the U.S. Government.

As speaker after speaker talked to the small gathering in
the elegant little park named Heritage Square at Waco's City
Hall, it slowly dawned on me.

Government is not a business; government is the means by
which business may be done.

Our Constitution provides the authority by which men and
women may work, prosper, establish credit, borrow, repay,
buy and sell real property, raise their children in peace,
educate themselves and their young in the realities of the
world around themselves. From its underpinnings flow each
rule of law that exists in all such areas.

But something is wrong. Dead wrong.

A young woman works hard and acquires a luxury automobile at
a huge expense - simply because she can.

She throws a party on a weekend and on her way home from a
gourmet grocery, a pickup truckload of illegal aliens rear
ends the beautiful new car. The driver not only does not
see the red light, he fails to notice the hundred thousand
dollar vehicle stopped there on the North Dallas street
corner.

With four other men in the cab of the truck and a half dozen
in the cargo bed behind him, he plows into the car at high
speed, causing its total loss.

He never even slowed down. There are no skid marks.

The damage is so severe that the wrecker driver can't get
the trunk open enough to salvage even part of the two
hundred dollars worth of delicacies she has bought for the
party.

Twenty years later, the woman is still paying very high
insurance premiums because of this ill experience.

Her crime, the reason for the penalty she continues to pay:
She earned big money and bought an outrageously expensive
car in which to sit out north Dallas traffic jams while
listening to an Alpine stereo in air conditioned comfort.

The driver was under the influence of deadly drugs. They
arrested him for that after he fled the scene of the
accident. He was also an unlicensed, uninsured motorist.

Under the state's insurance laws, the woman is still
responsible for that fact, even though the wreck happened
twenty years ago. She still pays an extremely high rate for
collision, comprehensive, personal injury and comprehensive
coverage. There's no way out of it, though she has been
accident free all these years.

Where is the negligent driver now? After all, he had a
pocket full of methamphetamine, the stuff people call
"crank." He'd been up all night shooting pool at a local
24-hour games emporium, according to insurance
investigators.

Oh, he went back to Mexico as soon as the immigration
authorities sorted his case out - at taxpayer expense.

They put him on the bus, Gus. He caught the Chain, Jane.

Where is he today?

¿Quien sabe?

One thing for sure - he doesn't help pay the insurance bills
on the Dallas woman's car.

His crime: He got loaded and failed to notice the hard-
working, tax-paying professional woman waiting at the red
light in her brand new luxury auto.

What if he hadn't been there? What if they had stopped him
at the border and he'd never had the chance to buy some
dope, drive illegally, plow into the rear end of a law-
abiding citizen's car?

Conservative estimates fix the number of people of illegals
at about 20 million, though more shrill government critics
make it more like three times that number. Illegals in
border states such as California and Texas are estimated at
anywhere from 2 million in the land of fruit and nuts to 8
million, a million to two million in Texas.

Arizona comes in a distant fifth or sixth, depending on who
you believe, at a shade under a million.

Employers say they do the kind of work Americans won't even
think about doing.

Can they prove it?

It's the law. Do they follow it? Do they take steps to
obtain work visas for those they employ?

They just passed a state law in Arizona, SB 1070, making it
legal for police officers to detain and state courts to hold
anyone determined to be of an illegal immigration status.
It's history making and very controversial. Many oppose
this.

This has prompted massive rallies throughout America - 70
big protest rallies in cities from New York to L.A. and all
points in between.

The chief allegation is that this new law is racist, but the
truth is, the new law is in reaction to the inaction on the
part of the federal government to get the job done.

It is not racist to have a certain expectation that the
government "establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization..."
because it is one of the powers granted to the Congress in
Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution.

Between the Constitution, the Congress and the Executive
Departments of the U.S., the massive coalition of lawmakers,
immigration enforcement types and federal judges is not only
not getting the job done, but they're pretty much totally
ignoring their responsibilities.

People know that.

In Waco, they have something to say about it.

"Politic," the stage name of rapper David Saucedo, said, "I
can't see where it (SB 1070) violates anyone's civil
rights."

You have to have rules, he said; otherwise, our world would
be an unlivable, chaotic corner of hell.

He read from a philosophical treatise on law. It's a
concept that is in place to protect life and property,
according to the ancients who defined these things.

Speaking of loud demands to boycott Arizona, Mr. Saucedo
said, "It makes no sense to boycott a whole state's economy.
I call for a similar law to be passed in this state."

Mr. Saucedo knows what makes sense when it comes to the law.
He spent time in the penitentiary for a felony conviction.
He has not been back there or in front a judge since the day
they cut him loose.

Said Duke Machado, a sales executive at a Ford dealership,
President of the Hispanic Republican Club of McLennan
County, "We need security for our families. We don't need
people coming across our borders sucking the resources from
our state."

Said TEA Party activist Toby Marie Walker, "We don't enforce
laws we have, but we just keep passing new ones."

She urged people to tell 10 people in their neighborhood
about their experience and urge each one to tell another 10.

Said State Senate candidate Darren Yancy, "I married into
the culture. His wife's maiden name was Gomez. After 14
years of marriage, they have four kids - three boys and one
girl.

"That makes them Hispanic by blood and by birth."

A conservative, he said the Gomez family makes him look
positively liberal when it comes to family values.

After studying the new Arizona law, he says he's not
satisfied with its wording.

"I don't like the words 'reasonable suspicion,'" which is
the requirement for detention and investigation of a
person's naturalization status in Arizona.

"We have to lower the threshold. We gotta say probable
cause...When we talk about illegal immigration, it's taking
citizenship and putting it down.

"In the next 10 years, the Hispanic culture will be the
majority culture."

State House of Representative District 57 candidate Marva
Beck said, "Where did that first law come from? It came
from God.

"Our laws are already there. Nobody's enforcing them."

TEA Party activist Michael Simon cited the fact that an
Arizona deputy was gunned down by an illegal alien drug
runner just that morning. "There is a war going on at our
southern border."

Why don't the parties get involved? "Democrats would lose
14 million votes...Republicans run the risk of being
perceived as racist, of being too concerned with their
wealth."

The solution?

State Republican Executive Committee candidate Jimmie Kerr,
a local refuse hauler, said the numbers don't lie.

Of 93 voting precincts in McLennan County, almost half have
no Republican Precinct Chairman.

"They won't give me the numbers at (McLennan County
Republican Party) headquarters."

If elected to the Executive Committee, he promised, he will
identify and select new chairmen who will recruit and train
savvy precinct secretaries, election judges and poll
watchers to get out the conservative vote in Six Shooter
Junction and its rural environs.
