Copenhagen - Danish security forces quietly raised the terror alert in that country to the highest level after a jihadist exploded an IED in a Copenhagen hotel.
Papers found at the scene included a map with the address of the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten in the nearby city of Arbus. That newspaper published such famous satirical works as Mohammed's “exploding head,” an editorial cartoon that depicted the Islamic prophet with a turban sporting a lit fuse coming out of its top in 2005.
In retaliation, a martyr of the jihad came to Copenhagen and attempted to attack the cartoonist with a sword.
The suspect in this incident remains hospitalized. His identity has not been released and he is not cooperating with authorities.
Said the Danish Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen, “Regardless of the background for the bomb detonation, it is important that we don't allow ourselves to be guided by fear or change the way we live.”
It was the only act of terrorism recorded over the weekend in America or Europe.
Such inteligence luminaries as Scott Stewart of Austin-based Stratfor noted that the 9/11 observances are as important for what did not happen as for what did happen.
