Three Corps district courtroom fortified, protected

Ft. Hood - Obviously taking no chances with the prospect of terrorist attack, the Army's top brass has made elaborate fortifications to the courtroom at Ft. Hood, the kind designed to withstand rocket, artillery, and armored attacks.

Massive HESCO concertainers filled with sand, CONEX shipment containers stacked three high, and concrete traffic barriers encircle the Army's Third Judicial District Courthouse at Ft. Hood in preparation for a defense motions hearing May 9 by defense attorneys representing Maj. Abu Nidal Malik Hasan, the accused murderer of 13 people, who gunned down innocent bystanders outside his office door at the Soldier Readiness Center Nov. 9, 2009.

Jury selection begins May 29; the trial in the General Court Martial will commence on July 1.
