"Food Crime" Bill Would End Home Organic Farming

A man arrives at a therapist's office, a medical service that
specializes in treating court-ordered offenders.

His offense is that he has plead guilty to growing and processing
organic foodstuff and produce without a federal permit issued by
the Office of Homeland Security.

As part of his probation, he is required to attend counseling ses-
sions to address his "eatiing disorder," a concern for the kind
of food he eats that is considered unhealthy, compulsive.

He considers himself fortunate that he is not requred to go to the
penitentiary. If he finishes his probation without a hitch, he might
not have a permanent felony on his record.

It has not happened yet, but it could, according to certain activ-
ists who are watching warily as a certain bill makes its way through
Congress.

The Senate probably won't consider the Food Safety
Modernization Act of 2010 this week. It's been sidetracked
in favor of deliberations on financial reform.

Nevertheless, activists on both sides of the issue are
watching like hawks as the controversial new law makes its
way to a House of Representatives committee on Homeland
Security.

Some say the brain child of Senate Whip Richard Durbin, (D-
Il), is a product of multinational agribusiness Monsanto, a
sinister bid to take food production totally out of the
hands of the common person and put it under intense
government control.

They fear that the production of other than hybrid seeds
will be outlawed if the measure passes, completely ruling
out the possiblity that survivalists will be able to grow
their own crops.

Those on the other side of the issue say that the law would
assist farmers in producing safe and disease free foodstuffs
through greater government scrutiny.

No matter what you believe, the S510 bill, the Food Safety
Modernization Act, would:

* Put final say so on whether a food could be produced
under Homeland Security officials;
* Impose UN and World Health Organization control over food
production, thus ending U.S. sovereignty;
* Allow the government under Maritime Law to define as
smuggling the introduction of any food product into the
economy without government approval;
* Cause a deconstruction of the American agricultural
economy;
* Allow the government to mandate the use of antibiotics,
hormones, slaughterhouse waste, pesticides to totally
eliminate organic farming in this nation; and,
* Allow so-called "food crimes" to cause an entry into
police state power and control over the way America eats.

Sen. Hilary Clinton introduced an earlier version of the law
before her 2008 bid for the Presidency.

Mark Penn, CEO of the giant PR firm that represents
Monsanto, Blackwater USA, Union Carbide, BP Chemicals,
Pfizer, Eli Lilly and SmithKline Beecham, was her chief
advisor in the matter.
