NRA's LaPierre to call for attorney general's resignation

The Sipsey Street Irregulars are reporting from the National Rifle Association convention that one of its key executives, the outspoken Wayne LaPierre, is calling for the resignation of Attorney General Eric Holder.

Mr. LaPierre once referred to agents of the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives as "jackbooted thugs."

According to a CBS report, the powerful organization of shooting enthusiasts and firearms manufacturers is blaming Mr. Holder's leadership for an unfolding scandal involving alleged BATFE complicity in the sales of assault weapons and handguns to smugglers who then "walked" the firing pieces across the border to Mexico.

One such weapon was used in the murder of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. Senator Charles Grassley, R-IA, a member of the Judiciary Committee, has opened investigative hearings into the affair.
