London - Angered by having to work longer for less money, 750,000 members of the United Kingdom's public employee unions joined Greek protesters on a 24-hour strike today as ports back up with arriving ships, international air travelers are left waiting for entry visas, and such essential services as garbage collection are neglected.
The strikers are protesting severe cutbacks in wages and programs imposed by a government hard-pressed to pay its bills and keep its currency viable.
