Ron Paul calls Rick Perry "Al Gore's cheerleader" in ad

From his third place slot for the Republican nomination, Rep. Ron Paul attacked front runner Governor Rick Perry with a TV spot, calling him a “cheerleader” for – of all people – Al Gore.

The spot outlines how Rep. Paul endorsed and campaigned for Governor Ronald Reagan as he outlined the "Reagan revolution" in his first campaign for president.

Mr. Reagan promised to cut taxes and the size of the federal government.

Rick Perry extolled the virtues of Vice President Gore, who had vowed to raise taxes and do nothing about the size of the federal government.

An NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released today showed Rick Perry leading the Republican presidental field with 38 percent of 1000 adults surveyed.

Governor Mitt Romney trailed with 23 percent, followed by independent Texas City Representative Ron Paul with 9 percent. He has edged Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, who garnered 8 percent of the sample.
