Tax Day shout out to Tea Party plans – gold, silver coin

'Control the money – Control everything'

Tea Party strategy got recognition from the radical blog “Silver Underground,” which credits the don't-tread-on-me movement with a sea change in the economics of states rights.

Utah authorized minting of gold and silver coins to be used as currency in that state a year ago. The change is starting to have some real effect.

The strategy is simple enough. Once fiat bank-issued currency becomes the only form of money, the wealth of the nation may be taxed out from under its citizens – confiscated, as it were - through a steady, controlled rate of inflation, one that is produced through collusion between the Treasury and the Federal Reserve.

So saith Alan Greenspan, ca. 1967, that seminal year in the Age of Aquarius, as previously noted in these columns:

In the absence of the gold standard, there is no way to protect savings from confiscation through inflation. There is no safe store of value… The financial policy of the welfare state requires there be no way for the owners of wealth to protect themselves. - Alan Greenspan, “Gold and Economic Freedom,” 1967

So far, the chief rub seems to be getting merchants to accept the alternative currency in the somewhat snow-blind State of Utah. It seems that since the coins are worth much more than their face value, current fluctuations in the per-ounce price of the precious metals becomes the true currency. It all becomes very complicated from there.

Shades of the War of Northern Aggression prevail. Do you trade in Greenbacks, or do you prefer Confed?

Let us return to those thrilling days of yesteryear when the United States of America truly became an equal opportunity nation with liberty to starve to death crying for a loaf of bread while one stood with a Virginia ham under one arm and a large-bore musket on the other shoulder.
