BULLETIN: LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS HAVE RAISED THE DEATH TOLL TO 28...

The gunman, who committed suicide following his deadly attack on helpless children and unarmed adults, is dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His name is Adam Lanza, 20. His mother, who was a teacher at the school, is also dead, killed in the attack. PRESIDENT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA ordered all U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff until Tuesday. He wept at a White House news conference as he discussed this tragedy. Asked about the President's campaign promises on gun control, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said, "Today is not the day to talk about that."

What shall we talk about, then? Should we talk about what it must have been like to watch the cops lead the little kids out of the crime scene where so many lay dead, telling them "Keep your eyes closed." Should we talk about that?

I guess we'll have to make an appointment. Until then, it might be wise to keep that shooting iron handy, as guaranteed by the Second Amendment. Those who are old enough to have been in the presence of old-timers who lived during times when men went openly armed will tell you how completely polite they were. The Civil War was over, right, man. Veterans of that debacle walked the mountains and prairies of the frontier, homeless and crazy as hell, and everyone said things like "Do tell," and "Beg pardon" - or, perhaps, "All due respect, but..."

I find people in Arizona, New Mexico, Montana, Idaho - and other places where open carry is the law and people follow it, to be much the same. They are extremely polite - about everything. It doesn't cost a dime, you know. On the other hand, centerfire cartridges are much more expensive. - The Legendary
