Wikipedia blacked out for 24-hour protest against SOPA


The on-line user-supported encyclopedia joined Google and other social media such as Reddit in protesting a Congressional debate over a highly restrictive internet law called SOPA - for short.

Co-authored and sponsored by U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Tx, the law would severely crimp present internet practices with respect to social media, entertainment, research materials and such services as Wikipedia.
