Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the historical society is celebrating the restoration of the courthouse. But they won't allow any pictures to be taken inside the jail, which has been closed for two and a half years for renovations at a cost of slightly more than one million dollars. Jail overcrowding led to a huge round of deficit spending during the current fiscal year as a private New Jersey corporation named CEC was paid a fee of $45.50 per day to house prisoners, the cost being classified as "outside care."
