McBudget shows $27,765,927 surplus over 5 years

Waco – Budget documents obtained from the McLennan County Commissioners' Court show that in 7 departments of county government, more than $27 million in surplus funds have been recorded.

In the four road and bridge precincts, in some cases, almost a $1 million a year surplus is recorded in the years 2007-11 for surpluses of:

Pct. 1 $5,068,717
Pct. 2 $8,078,911
Pct. 3 $2,428,680Pct. 4 $8,860,705

In three of the major departments of the McLennan County Sheriff's Office, there have been surpluses of:

General enforcement: $1,210,680
Administrative: $267,494
Jail, Feeding and Care: $1,850,740

Total: $27,765,927 
Numbers below represent TAXPAYER DOLLARS (click on the picture above to expanded view)
No information was obtained on how the surplus funds were spent or otherwise accounted for.
