NOW
we're getting somewhere. - Dr. Hannibal Lecter
Charlotte
– Republican strategists are swinging for the fences to attract the
Jewish and white working class vote that forms the traditional base
of the Democratic Party in national elections.
Mitt
Romney and his handlers “pounced” on the fact that the Democratic
National platform included only language that demands an unswerving
commitment to the security of Israel. The Republicans demanded a
statement to the effect that Jerusalem is and will remain the capital
of Israel, and an undivided city open to people of all faiths.
Done,
said President Barack Hussein Obama.
Next.
They
didn't stop squawking until President Obama further instructed party
functionaries – who were at pains to remain anonymous with the
ladies and gentlemen of the media because they are not authorized to
talk about such lofty policy issues – intervened, saying he
wondered why there was no mention of God in the 2010 platform.
They
immediately reverted to language used in the 2008 platform of the
Party of Jefferson.
There
came a quick change that said “we need a government that stands up
for the hopes, values and interests of working people and gives
everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their
God-given potential.”
That
ought to hold them.
Hopefully,
all that will include something besides minimum wage and
multinational corporations that abscond to foreign headquarters with
the pension funds people worked hard to earn.
Meanwhile,
back at El Rancho Grande, a suburban Phoenix hospital, unsatisfied
with what has been paid for its emergency services, is dunning a
woman for a balance of about $25,000 after her insurance carrier paid
$57,000 for treatment of a scorpion sting.
Most
of the charges attached to her $83,000 bill consisted of two doses of
anti-venom - at nearly $40,000 per dose.
Whew!
Wait awhile. There's more.
Reportedly,
certain GOP operatives began immediately to berate the President as
“weak” for caving in to the demands of the Party of Lincoln. Such
a deal.
If
we only had an internet hook-up with that Oakland station, we could
watch “Roller Derby” and “Elvira.” Clint would approve. He
earns a lot of residuals from that outfit by the Bay.
