Intelligence Community Out Of Control – Unaccountable

Nine-year trend for Homeland Security largely inefective

Washington is buzzing this morning over a years-long investigation of the intelligence “community” published today by “The Washington Post.”

Officials of the literally hundreds upon hundreds of agencies tasked with intelligence gathering and interpretation have warned employees not to talk to news reporters, confirm or deny anything and have taken measures to protect themselves and their families from attacks by foreign operatives that might result from information released to the public in the news probe.

According to the report, the U.S. intelligence apparatus is "a top secret America hidden from public view and lacking in thorough oversight. After nine years of unprecedented spending and growth, the result is that the system put in place to keep the United States safe is so massive that its effectiveness is impossible to determine."

What's more, no one has any clear idea of how much it costs or where that famous buck stops – the one that President Harry S. Truman, creator of the CIA, referred to in the sign on his desk.
