Suspected "hit squad" sought in murder of top Hamas leader. More coming right up?
Jerusalem - A spokesman for the Israeli Prime Minister's office said he is aware of reports that Hamas has been warned to either stop the rocket attacks and suicide bombings, or there will be a return to a “policy of assassinations.”
Mark Regev would not comment on these reports, according to the Chinese news agency, Xinhua, but he acknowledged that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is also aware of them.
“Targeted assassinations” of the Islamist group's leadership in Gaza and elsewhere abroad is a tactic that the Israeli government has used in the past.
With the rocket attacks and armed attacks resuming in time with the opening of peace talks in Washington, D.C., Israel is talking tough and ready to back it up if need be, according to numerous Arab countries who spoke to Xinhua.
