Portland, Ore. - Sometimes a nightmare steps up and introduces itself to a complete stranger in the middle of a sunny afternoon.
Bethany Storro said the black woman who approached her outside a Starbucks coffee house in Vancouver, Washington, had "this weirdness about her - like jealousy, rage."
The woman said, "Hey, pretty girl, do you want to drink this?"
Had she not have just bought and donned a new pair of sunglasses, the cup of hydrochloric or sulfuric acid the strange black woman tossed in her face would probably have blinded her.
But Ms. Storro, who was celebrating a successful move from Idaho and getting hired on a new job, decided to live a little in the afternoon sunshine.
When the acid bit into her face and torso, she fell to the pavement, screaming in pain. The stuff ate through the fabric of her blouse immediately. "I could feel it burning through my second layer of skin," she recalled.
Police are looking for the unidentified woman, a individual
dressed in a green top and khaki pants.
"I have never, ever seen this girl in my entire life," Ms.
Storro said following emergency surgery in Portland.
